The company signs an agreement with the Government of Canada to supply the Canadian healthcare system
SAINT-JEAN-SUR-RICHELIEU, QC, May 4, 2020 /CNW Telbec/ - Logistik Unicorp – a world-class integrator of uniforms and safety equipment and the leading supplier to the Canadian military – will mobilize its domestic supply chain to produce millions of level 1, 2 and 3 medical protective gowns required to protect health care workers from coast to coast. Through an agreement signed with the Government of Canada, Logistik Unicorp will provide washable and disposable solutions made entirely in Canada over the next six months.
Once the need became apparent, Logistik Unicorp quickly secured the supply of raw materials and worked with its partners to adapt its operations to meet the urgent and considerable need for personal protective equipment in the healthcare network. "When the call went out to companies, we understood that we had a role to play, and determined that we had the capability to make a difference for frontline workers. Within days, we were able to develop products and certify prototypes with Health Canada," says Karine Bibeau, Vice President of Sales at Logistik Unicorp.
Logistik Unicorp has recently acquired new production equipment to manufacture and deliver large volumes of protection levels 2 and 3 gowns. The company plans to gradually increase the production rate over the next few weeks as soon as the manufacturing personnel is completely familiar with the specifics of the medical sector. This announcement confirms the resumption of all activities and the return to work for 20 production facilities specializing in the manufacture of textile and clothing across Canada.
This agreement represents a unique opportunity for these 20 Canadian companies to demonstrate their capabilities and expertise in the medical field, a sector that – until now – has been accustomed to sourcing abroad. "We would like to thank the Government of Canada for its trust. Through this agreement, we intend to partner up with Canadian companies to develop long-term domestic production capacity. Manufacturing companies that wish to participate in the recovery and growth of the Canadian textile industry are invited to join the efforts," said Karine Bibeau.
Logistik Unicorp relies on a strong pan-Canadian supply chain that includes several Ontario manufacturers and partners such as Apparel Trimmings, Artex Sportswear, Bvisible Wear, Dorothea Knitting Mills, E.Star, Expansion Enterprises, Flying Colours International, International Custom Products, In Touch Fashion and McCormack Textiles.
