LONDON, ON, June 1, 2017 /CNW/ - On Tuesday, May 30, 2017 members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) London Detachment and the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) with assistance from the RCMP "C" Division Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit (CFSEU) Montreal, Quebec, arrested a London area male for importing fentanyl.
As a result of a search warrant at a residence on Woodward Avenue in London, Ontario, Colin Brook Stewart, age 56, has been charged with importing a controlled substance contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
On May 11, 2017, CBSA border services officers (BSO) at the Montreal International Mail Centre intercepted a package from the Netherlands destined for London, Ontario. During inspection, BSOs identified an envelope alleged to contain fentanyl patches. The CBSA alerted the RCMP and further investigation led to the search warrant and arrest.
"Preventing the illegal importation of opioids continues to be a priority for the RCMP," stated Inspector Joe Czenze, Officer in Charge of the London RCMP Detachment, "This is an excellent example of the RCMP working together with our CBSA partners to prevent the importation of a dangerous substance."

Colin Stewart will make his next appearance at the London court house on July 7, 2017.
