TORONTO, June 5, 2018 /CNW/ - Hey Canada, what makes you smile?
On June 21st, 2018, Operation Smile Canada is launching their brand new summer season of smiles campaign with The Longest Day of SMILES. June 21st is the longest day of the year, so on this day across Canada and in the GTA from sun-up to sun-down, Operation Smile Canada will be all over the media and in downtown Toronto promoting how Canadians can support children living with cleft lip and cleft palate through The Longest Day of SMILES.
We will kickoff at sunrise (05:36 hrs), at the foot of Yonge St. and Queens Quay, with the new CEO of Operation Smile Canada, Mark Climie-Elliott and any media looking to welcome the day with their listening/viewing audience.
From there, Mark and our roaming smile photo booth photographer will hang around the waterfront and head up Yonge Street (the longest street in the world) to catch commuters at Union Station and engage with people on the street and have them take a photo with our photographer and share their smile moment – and stay tuned when we get confirmation of photo moments with well-known Torontonians.
At lunch hour, from 11:30 – 2:30 pm, the Operation Smile Team and their fans will be taking over Assembly Chef's Hall, a very "happening" spot in the financial district and will feature a photo booth open to the public. Come say hello, grab some lunch, get your photo taken and share your smile moment.
The Longest Day of SMILES will culminate at a sundown (21:45pm) smile rally at High Park with a local baseball team. A candlelight O' Canada will be sung as the sun sets in the distance.
Our social media campaign is being promoted from June 1st for fans and followers across Canada to engage and share their #longestdayofsmiles moments. The month-long campaign, running from June 1st to June 30th will be supported with a text to donate component asking supporters to text SMILE to 45678 to make a $20 donation which will help give more smiles to children living with cleft conditions around the world.
Operation Smile has provided hundreds of thousands of safe surgeries for those born with cleft lip, cleft palate or other facial conditions. Operation Smile creates solutions that deliver free surgery to children and adults where most needed throughout the world.
See you on Thursday, June 21st.
