Food, passion, expertise, quality and selection rolls into the Leaside community
TORONTO, Aug. 21, 2012 /CNW/ - The Longo family is very proud to announce the official opening of their brand new store located in the Leaside neighbourhood. The store will open its doors to the public on Wednesday August 22, 2012.
The opening of this store in Leaside marks Longo's 25th location and is amongst the most innovative in design in the GTA. The 48,000 square foot location, in a historical building that once belonged to Canadian Northern Railway, welcomes shoppers to an environment offering local freshness traditionally reserved for open-air farmers markets, food knowledge that is only found in niche food boutiques, as well as an incredible array of exotic products which are sourced from around the world. The distinctive landmark building, built in 1919, was designed to service steam locomotives and has been refurbished into a unique shopping destination in the Leaside community.
"This location is of great historical importance to Toronto. While preserving its heritage, the Longo's team looks forward to bringing our passion for food, unrivalled expertise and reputation for outstanding quality, service and value to the Leaside community," explains Anthony Longo, President and CEO.
Great value, freshness and high quality are central to Longo's' Leaside store, which carries over 100 varieties of organic produce every day. Longo's hand-selects produce six days a week from the Ontario Food terminal, ensuring freshness beyond compare.
"Bringing a new twist to fresh, we are very proud to introduce the new Veggie Bar designed to making healthy eating easy by eliminating the planning and preparation time and pumping up the healthy content for any meal," adds Mr. Longo.
The "Veggie Bar" is designed to inspire healthy and easy cooking by providing a variety of veggie and fruit combinations to start, to add to or to accompany a dish. The nutritious and creative veggie and fruit pairings make pasta, stews, stir-fry or salad making a cinch for busy lifestyles.
Other highlights include: Longo's award-winning 40-item salad bar, gourmet made-to-order stone oven pizza, panini and hot sandwiches, made-on-site hardwood smoked meats and fish, a chocolatier creating fine Belgian chocolates, and Aromaté's fresh, in-store coffee bean roasting.
Longo's Leaside offers much more than food and groceries as it features an in-store Starbucks and is home to The Loft by Longo's cooking school, offering specialty cooking classes to teach foodies and rookies alike how to use a variety of ingredients, from the exotic to the everyday. The Loft is a place to gather, cook and learn - a variety of local and celebrity chefs will offer classes for budding gourmands.
The new location is also home to Corks Wine and Beer Bar featuring fine craft made beers and wines from Ontario. Shoppers can enjoy a glass of local wine or a craft beer with their freshly prepared meals on site in the Corks lounge.
Longo's Leaside will provide exceptional pharmacy services to Longo's customer base through a partnership with Guardian. With a focus on the entire well being, Guardian will tailor their services to meet individual needs through medication reviews and a private consultation room for longer pharmacist consultations.
Longo's combines an urban shopping destination with a unique layout that meets the needs of both the full and the quick "grab & go" shopping trip in a setting that celebrates the history of the Leaside neighbourhood.
