Looking for a simple solution to combat rising gas prices? With an average of 30% less fuel consumption than their gas counterparts, the time is now to purchase a hybrid.
Not sure which vehicle is right for you? Test out a range of options including conventional hybrid, hybrid electric, plug-in hybrid, hydrogen fuel cell electric and more from the world leader in sustainable mobility solutions – Toyota – at the 2018 Vancouver International Auto Show March 28 – April 1
VANCOUVER, March 26, 2018 /CNW/ - With no sign of a slow-down in rising gas prices in British Columbia, those considering an alternative to a conventional (gas) vehicle might want to visit their nearest Toyota or Lexus dealership ASAP. Next weekend, B.C. residents can also test drive Toyota's lineup of electrified vehicles at the 2018 Vancouver International Auto Show.
Now more than ever, with such a wide range of options available to meet the diverse needs of Canadian families, potential fuel cost savings are just one of the reasons to consider a hybrid electric vehicle as a viable vehicle alternative. Hybrids are quieter, more powerful, self-charging, and often offer more standard features than their conventional gas counterparts, all while letting drivers reduce their carbon footprint. Many Canadian families have already caught on and alternative powertrain vehicles are showing up in the driveways of more Canadian homes than ever before.
"As a company, we've set multiple goals to address climate change under the umbrella of Toyota's Environmental Challenge 2050, one of which is reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 90% from 2010 levels by the year 2050," says Stephen Beatty, Vice President, Toyota Canada. "With steady growth year over year of hybrid sales in Canada and ever-increasing options available to meet consumer demands, it's clear this is a goal Canadian drivers share with us."
Today's hybrid vehicles use about 30% less fuel on average than their conventional gas counterparts. In addition to making better choices for the environment, there are significant cost savings to be had by drivers of hybrids - and Canadians are catching on. In Canada last year, overall sales of alternative powertrains, including conventional hybrid electric vehicles, plug-in electric hybrids, and battery electric vehicles continued to increase. This year, Canadians will have even more choice from Toyota, whose hybrid sales account for more than three quarters of all hybrids sold since 2000. Many of these ground-breaking vehicles, including three hybrids from TCI's luxury automotive brand Lexus (like the made-in-Canada Lexus RX SUV) are available for test drives at the Vancouver International Auto Show this week.
Toyota Hybrid Vehicles – there's a hybrid for everyone!
Whether you're looking for the versatility and utility of an SUV, or the refined convenience of a sedan, there's a hybrid vehicle for everyone to help combat astronomical gas prices. Thanks to Toyota's revolutionary Hybrid Synergy Drive, vehicles such as the RAV4 Hybrid compact SUV, Highlander Hybrid mid-size SUV, Camry Hybrid full-size sedan, multi-award-winning Prius compact sedan and nimble Prius c Hybrid hatchback can operate in electric-mode only, gas-mode only, or a seamless combination of the two. Don't miss your chance to get behind the wheel of the full assortment, as well as hybrid versions of the two top-selling Lexus vehicles, the RX and NX full-size and compact SUVs at the show.
Toyota Prius Prime Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle
Looking for the next level in hybrid technology? The Toyota Prius Prime is a plug-in electric hybrid that truly offers the total package of style, technology and efficiency. The Prius Prime launched in Québec last summer and response was overwhelming as Quebec consumers discovered what it means to be able to travel free from range anxiety for more than 1,000 km on a single tank of gas and a full battery charge. Now, Canadians coast to coast will have the same opportunity as the Prime launches across the country. Starting at just $32,990, BC residents will also have the added value of a provincial rebate of $2,500. Show attendees can discover for themselves, why Prius Prime is one of the most advanced vehicles on the road today.
Toyota Mirai Hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle
The Toyota Mirai is a mid-size sedan with an important difference: under its stylish body lives a hydrogen fuel cell system that delivers incredible power and efficiency. The best part is, it's a car designed for the real world – with driving range comparable to a conventional mid-size sedan; a long list of comfort, convenience and technology features; and more. Yet, its only tailpipe emission is pure water vapour. As Toyota prepares to bring this model to the Canadian market starting in Quebec, don't miss out on test driving this unique vehicle that truly represents the future of sustainable mobility.
The 2018 Vancouver International Auto Show takes place March 28-April 1, at the Vancouver Convention Centre.
