Lose the clutter. Find a cure.
On Saturday, May 29th, help create a future without breast cancer by participating in the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation Yard Sale for the Cure
TORONTO, April 21 /CNW/ - On Saturday, May 29th, 2010, Canadians will have an opportunity to lose their clutter, empty their garages, attics and basements and help create a future without breast cancer. Sponsored by RE/MAX, the event's presenting sponsor since its inception, Yard Sale for the Cure is in its 6th year. This fundraising event is taking place in communities across Ontario in support of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. Founded in 2005 by breast cancer survivor Rachael Smith in her Toronto Beach community, the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation Yard Sale for the Cure has raised over $650,000 to date. "Everyone knows someone who has been touched by breast cancer," says Sandra Palmaro, CEO of the Foundation's Ontario Region. "Yard Sale for the Cure is an incredible opportunity for individuals to get involved in a personal or community Yard Sale to raise funds for the most promising research, awareness and education."
"I have close friends who haven't won their battle with breast cancer," says Martha Cooper, who is hosting her fourth Yard Sale for the Cure along with her colleagues. "Breast cancer touches so many lives - that's why everyone in the office pitches in." Individuals can sign up to host a Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation Yard Sale for the Cure at www.cbcf.org/yardsale. Once registered, participants will receive an official yard sale kit that includes everything they need to make their yard sale a success - a t-shirt, signage, posters, balloons and more!
"It's amazing to think how many people across Canada, are coming together to lose the clutter and to find a cure," says Yard Sale for the Cure founder Rachael Smith, "Together, we can succeed in creating a future where our daughters will never have to hear the words, 'you have breast cancer.'"
Also on board is designer Jane Lockhart, host of the hit TV series Colour Confidential. Individuals have an opportunity to enter to win a Yard Sale shopping experience with the acclaimed designer. "I'm really looking forward to this year's Yard Sale," says Jane Lockhart. "I've long been a fan of hitting yard sales and finding unexpected treasures. Yard Sale for the Cure is a fantastic opportunity to not only purge unwanted household items, but also to make a real difference. "Individuals can enter to win by visiting www.cbcf.org/yardsale.
