MONTREAL, July 12, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - Week-ends du monde, presented by Loto-Québec, a free event at Parc Jean-Drapeau, is capping off its second and final weekend with an array of new features that are sure to be crowd-pleasing.
One of the activities is La Piazza de la Petite Italie, a fine-food experience being held on Saturday and Sunday on one of Parc Jean Drapeau's most attractive sites, alongside the St. Lawrence River. Once they have appeased their taste buds, visitors can discover the following new features: the Festival mondial de musique des femmes d'ici et d'ailleurs, Montréal en harmonie, Fête nationale française, the Montréal Scottish Festival and Découvertes sans frontières.
Along with the new features there is a host of other activities, including the Festival dominicain, Festival cambodgien, Festival national de la Colombie, Mexique ici présent and Carnaval d'été brésilien de Montréal.
Record attendance on July 7-8 weekend
Montrealers responded in record numbers to the invitation to come to Parc Jean-Drapeau last weekend for the debut of this year's Week-ends du monde event, as close to 105,000 people were on hand to celebrate cultural diversity through music, dance and culinary discoveries.The huge crowd topped the first weekend attendance record which had been set last year.
Week-ends du monde is produced by the Société du parc Jean-Drapeau in collaboration with the City of Montréal. Loto-Québec is the official presenter of the event. Further details are available on the parcjeandrapeau.com website.
