MONTRÉAL, May 10, 2024 /CNW/ - Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean resident Denise Bélanger took home the $1,000,000 guaranteed prize in the May 4 Lotto 6/49 draw. She received her price at the store where she purchased it, the Dépanneur Métabetchouan in Métabetchouan–Lac-à-la-Croix—which belongs to her daughter!
The Dépanneur Métabetchouan will receive a 1% commission of $10,000. This convenience store has also sold winning tickets of major prizes to other region residents. In late 2023, Patrice Guérin took home a $2,000,000 grand prize with the 20X Suprême lottery game. And in June 2021, Roger Larouche became a millionaire when he won $1,000,000 with Extra.
"There have been several newly minted millionaires in Québec thanks to the lottery these last few weeks. Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean lottery players have been lucky, too! More than 45 winners from the region received prizes of $25,000 or more last year," said Isabelle Jean, Executive Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer of Lottery Games at Loto-Québec.
