MONTREAL, Nov. 28, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - The Quick Play family is expanding! Since November 25th, Loto-Québec is offering Lotto Hockey, a daily $2 lottery that includes a hockey-themed Quick Play and an Extra number valid for the usual evening draw. It's a first!
The game plan: 100% entertainment
You don't need to be good at hockey to play Lotto Hockey! Lotto Hockey's innovative concept is sure to please hockey fans even if they don't play the sport themselves. Thanks to Lotto Hockey, watching the accuracy shots animation can be just as exciting as our national sport.
Four accuracy shots, five chances to score
Playing Lotto Hockey is easier than learning to skate! After the consumer pays the retailer $2 for a ticket, the 10-second game animation begins on the consumer screen. The hockey player takes position and four targets are displayed in the four corners of the hockey net, each of which are labelled with amounts from $2 to $500. The hockey player has four shots to destroy the targets. If he destroys one or several targets, the Quick Play is a winner and the consumer can win up to $555.
And that's not all! A seven-digit number forming a valid selection for the evening Extra draw provides the ticket holder with another chance to win up to $1 million, according to Extra's regular prize structure. Lotto Hockey details are available at lotoquebec.com.
A winning concept
The opportunity to get game results directly in-store, coupled with another chance to win in the evening draw, constitutes the key to success for this type of lottery. In 2012-2013, Quick Play ticket sales reached $82.4 million and Loto-Québec awarded close to $50 million in prizes to Lotto Poker, Sprinto and Lotto :D players. "The Quick Play concept now has a proven track record. Thanks to the great results obtained with those three products, we are now offering consumers a fourth in this line of lottery products," said Elaine Thivierge, Marketing Director in Loto-Québec's Lottery Operations Office. Available from retailers and on Espacejeux.com, Lotto Hockey may also be played using the Lotteries mobile application.
An ad to make hockey fans smile
The ad campaign launching the new terminal-based lottery is based on the theme You don't need to be good at hockey to play Lotto Hockey and features sports analyst and former hockey player Dave Morissette. "We are very pleased that Dave Morissette agreed to 'play along' for the campaign. Hockey fans will get the joke, and Quebecers are sure to recognize this well-known sports personality," remarked Martine Adam, Senior Project Officer, Advertising and Business Communications.
A web video was also produced, showing the funny scene where agency artists try to convince Dave Morissette to play along.
