MONTRÉAL, Dec. 21, 2023 /CNW/ - A Laurentides family received an extraordinary gift just in time for the holidays. Nancy Gauthier, her mother Jeannette Boisvert and her mother's spouse Gilles Larouche took home the Lotto Max $50,000,000 jackpot! Gauthier and her mother worked together until the draw on December 15, after which they both decided to say, "Bye-bye, boss!" to their employer. The three winners have decided to live closer to nature.
- Nancy Gauthier purchased the Lotto Max ticket at her mother's suggestion. She is also the one who checked the draw results on lotoquebec.com and discovered they had a winning ticket. "One right number, two right numbers, three right numbers..." Gauthier saw very quickly that the first six numbers of the winning combination matched those on her ticket. She hid the seventh number, which would determine whether she won the jackpot, with her finger. "It has got to be 45!" she said.
- When she took her finger off the ticket, she saw she had the right number. She fell to her knees and screamed for joy! Larouche wondered what could've prompted such a reaction.
- Gauthier kept the ticket on her until she presented it to Loto-Québec.
- She dreamt of coming to claim her prize in a limousine—and her dream will come true on December 21!
- This family has never experienced a holiday season like this one! They are planning to purchase a small farm in which to live together.
The winning ticket was purchased at the Couche-Tard at 508 Boulevard Saint-Anne in Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines. The retailer will receive a 1% commission of $500,000.
Before this $50,000,000 Lotto Max jackpot, the draw on Halloween night made Estrie residents Catherine Ennis and Jean Larocque multimillionaires with a $55,000,000 jackpot. Earlier, over Thanksgiving weekend in October, Montréal resident Pierre Richer also won a $50,000,000 jackpot with Lotto Max.
"What a holiday gift! We're so proud to be helping the people of Québec in this way and give them the means to make their dreams come true," said Jean-François Bergeron, President and Chief Executive Officer at Loto-Québec.
"It's a lucky end to the year for Quebecers: this is the third Lotto Max jackpot to be won in Québec in under three months!" pointed out Isabelle Jean, Executive Vice-President and COO of Lottery Games at Loto-Québec.
Denise Drysdelle Cyr, also from the Laurentides, took home the December 16 Québec Max jackpot of $2,000,000 with a ticket she purchased on lotoquebec.com.
