MONTRÉAL, Dec. 9, 2024 /CNW/ - The Lotto Max $80,000,000 jackpot has been won for the second time in the lottery game's history. Jean Lamontagne, a Montréal resident, had purchased one of the two winning selections in the December 3 draw online. The sixty-year-old was surrounded by his loved ones when he received his cheque on December 9 at the Casino de Montréal.
Lamontagne has been playing the lottery online for many years. He always takes the Double Jeu Max option with his own chosen numbers.
The winner was at work when he checked his tickets and discovered he'd won a $40,000,000 prize. So, he shared the news with his bosses first, adding that he'd take advantage of the windfall to retire earlier than planned. As he's very close to his colleagues, Lamontagne returned to his workplace a few days later to treat them to a pizza lunch and say farewell.
For this family man, using his prize to ensure his family's financial security is essential. He plans to invest part of the win in real estate and purchase multiplexes for his children, his brother and his sisters-in-law. He's also looking to treat himself to a several-month-long European trip, making a cherished dream come true.
