MONTREAL, June 17, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - The Old Brewery Mission Foundation is proud to announce that Louis Audet, President and CEO of Cogeco Inc. and Cogeco Cable Inc., will be chairing its 2014-2020 Major Fundraising Campaign. "We are honoured that Mr. Audet has accepted the leadership of our Campaign. The contribution of this business leader, who is actively involved in many charitable causes, makes us extremely confident that we will succeed in raising $10 million from major donors, thus contributing to reaching our overall campaign objective of raising $55.5 million over the next six years," states Marie Claire Morin, President and CEO of the Foundation.
"Thanks to the Old Brewery Mission, over 4,000 men and women each year have access to a whole range of social services. Of this number, nearly half suffer from mental health issues. Of course, the Old Brewery Mission comes to their aid, but it also helps them acquire the tools needed to leave shelter life behind. This organization is a key player in efforts to ease the pain of homelessness. I am convinced of the merit of the Mission's programs, aimed at providing permanent solutions to end homelessness in Montreal. It is with great enthusiasm that I accept to chair this major donors' campaign, essential in eradicating this social problem," said Mr. Audet.
The funds collected during the 2014-2020 Campaign will enable the Old Brewery Mission to implement its action plan aimed at eliminating homelessness as we know it. "This funding will help us acquire the resources needed to improve existing programs and services, while offering new initiatives to help homeless women and men reach their full potential and return to mainstream society," added Matthew Pearce, President and CEO of the Old Brewery Mission.
