Louise Arbour, Marc-André Blanchard, Louise Frechette & Marie Bernard-Meunier receive the Marcel-Côté Award for Leadership in Public Policy Français
OTTAWA, Sept. 12, 2016 /CNW/ - Marcel Côté was a boundless visionary, a bridge-builder and a tireless advocate for good public policy. In partnership with the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal and Junior Chamber of Commerce of Montreal (JCCM), it's in his honour that the Public Policy Forum created the Marcel-Côté Award for Leadership in Public Policy which will be presented on September 13 in Montreal.
"Marcel Côté's undeniable qualities entirely justify the creation of an award in his name and to honour his vision. Montreal's contribution to the award will help perpetuate the memory of this great Montrealer. With this award, the Forum wishes to remind present and future leaders of the fundamental difference they can make in our society. I would also like to congratulate the 2016 recipients who have each shown their leadership in developing public policies in their respective fields," declared Denis Coderre, the mayor of Montreal
"Just as Marcel Côté did, the four recipients know how to impact society in their own way. Receiving this award not only emphasizes the leadership and excellence they showed throughout their career, but also their devotion to, and passion for, improving our public policies. The Board is proud to be associated with the award that is awarded to the recipients and congratulates them," stated Michel Leblanc, President and CEO of the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal.
"Marcel Côté contributed a great deal towards developing Montreal and Quebec and making them shine. That's why the JCCM thought it was a natural choice to share in this award, which reflects our own mission, in order to continue to promote this type of leadership", declared Gabriel Bran Lopez, JCCM president and founding president of Fusion Jeunesse.
"We are extremely pleased to have the opportunity to recognize the leadership of this quartet in pursuing Canada's interests and values abroad," said Edward Greenspon, President of the Public Policy Forum. "They are truly distinguished individuals who deserve to be associated with the legendary Marcel Côté."
In addition to the two Chambers, the presentation of the Marcel-Côté Award is made possible with support from the City of Montreal, Ernst & Young, Russel Reynolds Associates and the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec .
