BOUCHERVILLE, QC, Feb. 26, 2018 /CNW/ - Lowe's Canada, one of Canada's leading home improvement company operating or servicing more than 630 stores in Canada under the Lowe's, RONA, Réno-Dépôt, Dick's Lumber, Contractor First and Ace banners, is proud to highlight its collaboration with Habitat for Humanity Canada in 2017. The company's administrative centers and stores donated close to $1 million in products and building materials to Habitat for Humanity ReStores and over 100 employees helped build homes on the organization's construction sites.
Since 1985, Habitat for Humanity Canada has been building decent and affordable homes that provide families with a solid foundation for better, healthier lives in Canada. Habitat homeowners volunteer up to 500 hours with Habitat and pay an interest-free, affordable mortgage – geared to their income – to buy their own home. Each year, the organization helps improve the lives of hundreds of families through the work of volunteers and the generous contributions of its partners.
Lowe's Canada is proud to be one of those partners and to help Habitat for Humanity Canada fulfill its mission by supporting Habitat ReStores, which are home and building supply stores that accept and resell quality new and used building materials, as well as furniture, appliances, and home accessories to the public to fund Habitat for Humanity projects. "At Lowe's Canada, our mission is to help people love where they live," said Jean-Sebastien Lamoureux, Senior Vice President, Communications, Public Affairs, and Compliance at Lowe's Canada. "It was only natural for us to support an organization that helps provide homes for hundreds of Canadians every year."
In addition to the donations to Habitat ReStores, more than 100 employees and executives at Lowe's Canada and its banners also volunteered with local Habitats on build sites in Canada in 2017. These included two projects that were part of Habitat for Humanity's 34th Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Work Project to build 150 homes across Canada in celebration of the 150th anniversary of confederation. "One of the values we stand for as an organization is making a difference in someone's life every day. Our employees are committed to making a real difference in their communities, and we are happy to give them the opportunity to get involved through a variety of corporate initiatives," Mr. Lamoureux added.
Over the last 10 years, Lowe's Canada has donated over $2 million in products to Habitat for Humanity Canada and intends to continue its partnership with this life-changing organization. "We are fortunate to have the generous support of Lowe's Canada," said Mark Rodgers, President and CEO of Habitat for Humanity Canada. "We build homes thanks to a community of individuals and donors who know that the foundations of a Habitat home helps build better lives. It is thanks to the generosity of our partners that we can continue to make a real difference in the lives of hundreds of Canadians every year."
