Lowe's Canada Heroes Take-On Community Improvement Projects
New fundraising campaign runs throughout the month of March
TORONTO, March 2, 2015 /CNW/ - Today, Lowe's launched its first ever Lowe's Canada Heroes fundraising campaign to support local community improvement projects. The Lowe's Canada Heroes fundraiser runs until March 31, 2015 at all 37 Lowe's locations where customers can donate $2.00 at checkout to purchase a paper pagoda to support their store's local community charity partner.
100 per cent of all proceeds will stay within the community and support the local Lowe's store's community improvement project, and Lowe's Canada will match 50 per cent of all funds raised through the campaign up to a maximum of $2,000 per store.
"The Lowe's Canada Heroes program is committed to making a difference by adopting community improvement projects aimed at enriching our neighbourhoods," says Wanda Walkden, VP of Human Resources and Communications, Lowe's Canada. "We take great pride working with organizations within the communities we serve and are excited to have our customers support the program this year."
This is the first year the company is inviting customers to donate to this annual initiative. The funds raised will be directed to complete community improvement projects from May to November 2015. As one of Lowe's key community initiatives, the Lowe's Canada Heroes is a volunteer program in which teams of Lowe's employees adopt a project with a local public school or non-profit organization to help improve its communities. Lowe's stores have partnered with organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, local women and youth shelters, YMCAs and local public schools.
Since its inception in Canada, Lowe's has actively supported various national and local causes to help strengthen the communities in which it operates. The focus of these efforts is directed towards three key community pillars which also align with Lowe's core business of home improvement: Safe and Accessible Housing, Skilled Trades Education and Community Renovation and Improvement Projects.
