A unique event already happening in more than 50 cities around the world.
MONTREAL, April 25, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - On May 9, Cinéma Excentris (3536 St-Laurent Blvd.) will host Montreal's first-ever Lunch Beat, a public (and non-profit) dance event.
"The Lunch Beat concept is simple: get together over lunch to dance! This could be your week's most important business lunch," explains Jan-Nicolas Vanderveken, the catalyst for Lunch Beat Montreal.
In Sweden, Lunch Beat has become a true social phenomenon. Molly Ränge, founder of the movement, adds, "Since 2010, Lunch Beat has exploded! At the beginning, it was 14 friends in a garage in Stockholm and today, it's a dance movement on all continents. To have Montreal joining our community feels completely natural and fantastic".
All Lunch Beat events follow the same rules:
Anastasia Vaillancourt explains why Cinéma Excentris chose to get involved, "As a cultural hub and creative space, Excentris is proud to host the first Lunch Beat Montreal. This innovative event is the first of its kind and offers a wonderful way to break up the monotony of the work day with music and great company."
Hissy Fit (Turbo/Aufect/Hybridity) will man the turntables at the first Lunch Beat Montreal, serving up a house-techno set with "garage" flavour. Having toured North America from St John's to San Francisco and back, Hissy Fit is known in Montreal for his performances at MUTEK and Piknic Electronik.
A vegetarian lunch will be prepared by Café Méliès and served with RISE kombucha, a healthy drink with a unique flavour that's produced right here in Montreal.
The ticket office will open on April 29 and for this first edition, only 250 tickets will be available for the price of a quick downtown lunch. To know when tickets go on sale, simply follow Lunch Beat Montreal on Facebook (http://facebook.com/LunchBeatMontreal) or @LunchBeatMTL on Twitter (http://twitter.com/LunchBeatMTL).
This event is made possible thanks to the generosity of Cinéma Excentris and Café Méliès, CNW, L'Empreinte, Infopresse, RISE and TP1.
