MACH Announces the Launch of its CAMEL Roaming Solutions
Mobile operators face a number of issues when their customers make roaming calls abroad. Firstly, they cannot control the quality of service delivered to their customer. Poor service quality can result in reduced call volumes and even in reduced customer satisfaction and churn. Secondly, the wholesale cost of calls delivered by a visited network is a large component of cost of sale to the home network operator, and directly impacts profit margins. Thirdly, there is an increased exposure to fraud due to the time lag between service consumption and access to call data. Finally, prepaid call volumes are reduced by the inavailability of customer top-up facilities.
MACH's Optimal Call Handler (OCH) allows operators to handle the routing plan for calls made back to the home country by customers roaming abroad, optimising call quality and reducing wholesale cost. MACH's Data Clearing solution correlates home provider and visited provider billing to eliminate billing file discrepancies, so that no adjustments are required to billing systems and processes. As the leading provider of clearing house solutions to the wireless roaming market, MACH is uniquely positioned to manage billing and settlement processes for home operator-handled calls.
MACH CAMEL solutions also offer real-time visibility of customer consumption to reduce exposure to fraudulent activity, and MACH's Prepaid Gateway will allow operators to identify prepaid customers with low credit levels to maintain service availability. All of MACH's solutions are available on a managed service basis, eliminating the cost and lead-time required for operators to build their own CAMEL infrastructure.
The impact on both wholesale cost and service quality is significant and immediate - delivering improvements from the first minute of the first call handled. MACH's managed service solutions require no time-consuming and costly network implementation, and can be applied on a modular basis by activating only on as many routes or destinations as required.
"Roaming calls make up as much as 20% of operator revenues, and yet it is the area where operators have least control over cost and quality," said Mr Tue Hermansen, Product Management Director, Next Generation Roaming Products, MACH.
"With travel and roaming volumes set only to increase, it is a leakage that operators have to plug, and MACH CAMEL roaming solutions are the first of their kind to provide the cork!"
MACH's CAMEL roaming solutions are available today, and additional prepaid roaming solutions will be added in 2010.
