June 16th, 7pm – The Citizen, 522 King Street West, Toronto
TORONTO, May 28 2014 /CNW/ - Cointreau, the famous orange liqueur is proud to present the very first Canadian cocktail competition exclusively dedicated to women. Starting early June, the Cointreau team is going to travel from coast to coast looking for the most creative and talented female bartenders. After visiting Vancouver and Calgary, this National competition will be in Toronto on June 16th, before going to Montreal to challenge the skills of professional mixologists.
Cointreau liqueur was invented in 1875, driven by the energy of its creator, Édouard Cointreau. In tribute to his beloved muse Louisa, he created just the right blend of sweet and bitter orange peel flavours, inspired by the heart of femininity. By representing the essence of French lifestyle, it has become through the ages an icon in the cocktail world. Inspired by Edouard's love story, Cointreau decided to explore the country to find its next muse: Mademoiselle Cointreau!
It is an honour to have Alfred Cointreau, direct descendant of the creator, as the judging panel leader. Now acting as the House's Heritage Manager travelling the world to share the Cointreau legacy, he will determine the bartenders with the most talent behind the bar, seconded by a jury composed of specialized journalists and industry professionals. Alfred is the 6th generation of the Cointreau family, sharing the same passion for the famous liquor as his great-great-great grandfather.
Competition in Toronto on June 16th
The third regional competition of this Canadian Quest for Canada's Best Female Bartender will take place in Toronto on June 16th at The Citizen. Naming the best female bartender in the city, it will be presented by Alfred Cointreau with the support of MC Dee Brun, also known as the Cocktail Deeva. Dee represents the incarnation of modern femininity and the glamour that Cointreau is all about. She is also a true advocate of Cointreau, having visited the Distillery in the past year.
This summer competition will select 10 finalists and give them the chance to go to France and visit the distillery in Angers in order to learn everything about the House of Cointreau. In December, the 10 finalists will gather again in Toronto for the Grand Finale of the competition. This last competition will determine the National winner, the one and only Mademoiselle Cointreau. The final prize? Like all Mademoiselles, Cointreau has its secrets. The surprise will be revealed during the Grand Finale.
