Magor Extends Flexibility of Aerus Service Delivery Platform (SDP) with Desktop Visual Collaboration Client for Windows and New Suite of On-Demand Services
-Aerus Trials with global partners moving rapidly to deployment and revenues-
OTTAWA, March 4, 2014 /CNW/ - Magor Corporation ("Magor" or the "Company") (TSX-V: MCC), a global leader in visual collaboration solutions, is pleased to announce two key developments to the Aerus™ Service Delivery Platform (SDP) that bring greater reach and service options to end users:
- Support for a desktop visual collaboration client for Windows
- Three new Aerus OnDemand services:
- Aerus Invite - personalized virtual meeting room service offering
- Aerus OnScene - Vertical solution for public safety applications
- Aerus WebCollab - WebRTC-based webinar-style collaboration service offering
The software-based Aerus SDP has been designed to deliver a new level of flexibility for enterprise-grade visual collaboration by combining cloud computing, peer-to-peer networking and media stream switching to enable:
- Concurrent sharing of multi-sourced collaborative media, including desktop screens, iPad screens, static and interactive whiteboards, wearable camera views, live and recorded video, photos and any other content that may be useful
- Real-time adaptability of media-stream quality via scalable video coding
- Native interoperability with SIP, H.323 and WebRTC solutions without the need of additional gateway for media processing
- A distributed server architecture with application layer multicasting for media streams to support for large-scale deployments
- Support for both private and public cloud deployment
"Our ongoing strategy with Aerus is to elevate the use of video interactions to support new collaborative teamwork that goes far beyond the current video conferencing approach," said Ken Davison, Chief Marketing Officer for Magor Corporation. "Today, we push further in this direction by extending our visual collaboration experience to the desktop, delivering a new standard for video interactions on multi-purpose PCs for Windows. In addition, the new suite of On-Demand services offers flexibility to end users with access to fully integrated capabilities that would otherwise be offered as entirely separate solutions."
"The exciting technologies described here are now driving revenues for Magor as Aerus has quickly gone from early Beta trials to actual deployments with end user enterprise clients of various sizes provided through a number of Vertical Solutions Integrators (VSI's) and carriers around the globe," said Mike Pascoe, President and CEO of Magor Corporation. "We are now in excess of a dozen trials at various stages of planning and deployment through to revenue with our growing list of Aerus partners, significantly exceeding the expectations we had set for ourselves."
Magor is announcing three new additions to the OnDemand service layer:
Aerus Invite is a virtual meeting room (VMR) service that changes the rules on multi-point video sessions by personalizing the service to the user rather than designing the service around capacity of hardware based infrastructures. VMRs can be assigned to individual users or public rooms for both private and public cloud deployments. VMRs offer customers scalability and interoperability with minimal scheduling overhead.
Aerus OnScene is a set of services focused on public safety to enable intelligence-led policing. One such service provides front-line officers, supervising officers and dispatchers with street-level visibility during major events when seconds count or to preserve valuable resources. This service transforms Aerus users located in operation & crime centers into an operations command management terminal by providing access to real-time, geo-tagged video streams from IP surveillance systems, smartphones, and officer-based cameras in multiple locations.
Aerus WebCollab is a flexible WebRTC-based service that enables up to 25 participants to securely attend an Aerus session via audio and/or video with complete views of other participants and shared information. Aerus WebCollab uses the open WebRTC standard, which enables real-time communication for standard web browsers such as Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. Aerus WebCollab is ideal for:
- Holding training sessions for clients, partners or customers
- Delivering lessons for distance education
- Attending lectures by professors in remote locations
- Conducting sessions that include traveling employees
- Delivering distant sales presentations
"The Virtual Meeting Room offering provided with the Aerus Invite service has gone rapidly from evaluation to decisions to deploy by Aerus partners in several countries," continued Mike Pascoe, President and CEO of Magor. "Aerus Invite provides a very attractive service option to both carrier and enterprise customers while at the same time allowing them to stop continued investing in expensive MCU hardware and movement to a virtualized environment, shifting costs from capex to an operational expense tied to usage. Not surprisingly given the major capex savings, the early reaction to this has been excellent."
"Aerus OnScene is getting strong appeal and early traction in the police and security markets," continued Mike Pascoe. "Although only recently introduced, Magor has already received demand for the OnScene capabilities from police departments in the UK and Canada with additional interest from US and Latin America police and security forces. We expect this traction to translate to business in the near term."
"At a recent major North American police show, we demonstrated Aerus services including OnScene to several of the largest Police groups, and were overwhelmed by the interest and requests for evaluation," continued Ken Davison, Chief Marketing Officer of Magor Corporation. "Homeland security is one area of IT spending that continues to grow as police and national security agencies are getting budget support in these days of growing concerns over domestic and global security threats."
Magor will showcase the Windows Aerus Client, Aerus Invite, Aerus OnScene, and Aerus WebCollab at the Enterprise Connect 2014 Conference & Expo March 17 - 20 in Orlando, Fla. The Company will demonstrate the new capabilities during the conference at Booth # (536).
