NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y., Nov. 30, 2016 /CNW/ -- A record 1.6 million guests boarded iconic Maid of the Mist vessels during the 2016 season in Niagara Falls, N.Y., a nine percent increase over the 2015 record. The season began Apr. 2, the earliest opening in the history of one of North America's longest running tourist attractions, and concluded Nov. 6.
"For the past several seasons, we have experienced a steady increase in passenger boardings," said Chris Glynn, president of the Maid of the Mist Corp. "We focus on providing an unparalleled guest experience, and yet another record season reflects the uniqueness of the Maid of the Mist as well as the welcoming atmosphere provided by our associates."
The 2017 season will begin following completion of the ice run from the Upper Niagara.
