TORONTO, May 31, 2017 /CNW/ - Earlier this month, Restaurants Canada joined the Small Business Matters Coalition, a group of trade associations representing small and medium size businesses across Canada. With the 30,000 members represented by Restaurants Canada, this brings the number of businesses represented by the Coalition to over 150,000---making it now the largest voice for small business in Canada.
The Coalition was originally formed in 2014 by associations from a wide variety of sectors out of a concern for the rising costs of credit card acceptance by small and medium size merchants across the country. This is an issue that is still a priority for the Coalition as the federal government continues its review of the billions of dollars annually that are the cost of point of sale payments to businesses in Canada.
While each member association will continue to speak out on issues unique to its sector, the Coalition will also advocate on issues that are of concern to small business and cross all merchant channels.
