Air France to begin direct service between YVR and Paris
RICHMOND, BC, Nov. 3, 2014 /CNW/ - Vancouver Airport Authority today announced the upcoming arrival of Air France to Vancouver. The new service between Vancouver International Airport (YVR) and Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) will begin March 2015.
"I'm so thrilled to welcome a premier carrier like Air France to YVR's growing list of business partners. Our customers have long been asking for Air France's non-stop direct flights to Paris," said Craig Richmond, President and CEO, Vancouver Airport Authority. "We recently surveyed Metro Vancouver residents and results showed Paris as the number one requested destination from YVR."
The non-stop seasonal service will operate three times per week from March 29 to May 3, 2015; five times per week from May 4 to September 13, 2015; and three times a week from September 14 to October 24, 2015. The new service will add $13.7 million in Gross Domestic Product, $8.8 million in wages and 248 jobs to the B.C. economy.
Patrick Alexandre, Executive Vice President Commercial-Passenger Business AFKL, declared "The opening by Air France of the Vancouver-Paris route five times a week along with the existing KLM daily flights in the summer will strengthen the Group's position in Western Canada. Moreover, the complementary nature of Air France and KLM's flight schedules will give customers more choice of connections via the hubs at Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Amsterdam-Schiphol. The addition of Air France flights will also contribute to develop trade and tourism between France and British Columbia."
Air France and its co-carrier KLM Royal Dutch Airlines offer connectivity to 55 destinations in Europe. The new service to Vancouver is in addition to KLM's offering of 7 weekly flights between YVR and Amsterdam-Schiphol.
Air France will operate a Boeing 777-200 aircraft equipped with its new leisure configuration. The aircraft provides a seat capacity of 309 seats - 35 in Business Class, 24 in Premium Economy and 250 in Economy. Flight AF 374 leaves Paris Charles de Gaulle at 10:35 a.m. and arrives at YVR at 11:50 a.m. the same day. Flight AF 379 leaves YVR at 2:00 p.m. and arrives at Paris Charles de Gaulle at 8:35 a.m. the following day. Tickets for the new Air France service will be available for purchase the first week of November. For booking information, visit www.airfrance.ca.
