Major motion picture Deepwater Horizon to bullfrogpower all advance screenings in Canada with 100 per cent clean energy
TORONTO, Sept. 19, 2016 /CNW/ - Today, Bullfrog Power®, Canada's leading green energy provider, and Canadian distributor, Elevation Pictures, are announcing a new partnership that will see advance screenings of Deepwater Horizon – a major motion picture on one of the largest oil spills in human history – bullfrogpowered with 100 per cent clean, renewable power.
The movie depicts the thrilling story of the crew aboard the Deepwater Horizon as they experienced a catastrophic oil rig blowout on April 20, 2010, where crew members' heroic efforts led to saving many lives. The blowout caused an oil spill that released 4.9 million barrels of oil (according to government estimates) in the Gulf of Mexico.
"Deepwater Horizon is a film that brings awareness to the environmental risks of relying on conventional sources of energy—and specifically deep sea drilling to obtain that energy," says Ron Seftel, CEO, Bullfrog Power.
Through the partnership, Bullfrog Power will put 100 per cent green electricity onto the grid to match the amount of conventional power each advance screening uses. Across Canada, Bullfrog Power's green electricity comes from a blend of wind and low-impact hydro power sourced from new Canadian renewable energy facilities.
The bullfrogpowered advance screenings will take place on September 28, 2016, in the following cities across Canada: Victoria, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Toronto, Ottawa and Halifax.
Through the partnership, Bullfrog Power will be airing 30 second information spots on the benefits of green energy at each screening to help raise awareness of clean, renewable sources of energy.
"A key focus of our film is human ingenuity—and the strength and bravery that people show during extreme situations," says Adrian Love, Senior VP of Marketing & Acquisitions, Elevation Pictures. We're proud to partner with Bullfrog Power to support green energy for our film's advance screenings and help increase awareness of green energy in Canada."
