Major Power Consumers Support Ontario's Long-Term Energy Plan
TORONTO, Nov. 24 /CNW/ - The Association of Major Power Consumers in Ontario welcomes the announcement by the Ontario government of its Long-Term Energy Plan.
The provincial plan unveiled yesterday recognizes the importance of stable, competitive electricity rates for industry. The Industrial Conservation Initiative—a key component of the plan—creates meaningful incentives for manufacturers and other major power consumers to invest in efficiency, conserve energy, reduce costs and deliver benefits to the electricity system overall.
"Competitive electricity rates are an absolute priority for AMPCO members. The plan sets out a framework to create a reliable, economically viable electricity system for Ontario," said Adam White, AMPCO President. "This plan means a stable investment climate, and that means more jobs."
AMPCO and its members look forward to working with Ontario's electricity agencies and suppliers to ensure that the plan's objectives are achieved at the lowest possible cost, in a way that promotes economic efficiency and protects the interests of consumers.
