Make a Difference by Shopping with The Salvation Army Thrift Store for National Thrift Shop Day
TORONTO, Aug. 16, 2018 /CNW/ - Thrift is not only thriving in Canada, but with The Salvation Army Thrift Store is making a difference for local communities.
With over 100 locations throughout Canada, The Salvation Army has been a pioneer of thrift and recycling locally since their first Thrift Store in 1908. "This year marks 110 years of thrift in Canada with The Salvation Army," says Ted Troughton, Managing Director of The Salvation Army Thrift Store, National Recycling Operations. "We are deeply rooted in the thrift and recycling industry as one of the largest recyclers in Canada that provides incredible support to the most vulnerable in our communities through our stores."
In fiscal year 2017-2018, The Salvation Army Thrift Store provided over $6 million of clothing and household items free of cost through 108 locations. Almost 80 million pounds of clothing, textiles and household items were also diverted from local landfills for cleaner communities. "The Salvation Army provides support to over 1.7 million Canadians annually through incredible programs, services and emergency relief efforts. By shopping and donating to us, together we can support even more adults and families each year," Troughton added.
On National Thrift Shop Day celebrated in North America this Friday, August 17th, The Salvation Army Thrift Store is asking their communities to make a difference by shopping and donating. "Our stores will be having 30% off the entire store including brand new mattresses, and our donor welcome centres will be open offering a $10 off coupon for all donations, so please help us make a difference by thinking thrift with us," Troughton added.
