Manning Centre Launches Free-market Municipal Governance Project
CALGARY, Dec. 21, 2012 /CNW/ - Applying free-market principles to municipal government requires listening and responding to the concerns of citizens as voters and consumers. The Manning Centre's new Municipal Governance Project will look at how this can best be done - starting in Calgary, then throughout Canada.
David Seymour - a veteran of the policy world, both in Canada and in his native New Zealand - has joined this project as Senior Fellow, Municipal Governance. He is based in Calgary, Alberta.
The Municipal Governance Project is a multi-year research and public education initiative undertaken by the Manning Centre for Building Democracy (a non-charitable, not-for-profit organization designed to strengthen the knowledge and skills of political participants). Research and educational aspects of the projects which qualify as charitable will be handled through the Manning Foundation (a national not-for-profit foundation with charitable status).
