Maple Leaf Foods donates $25,000, volunteers to support nutritious meal deliveries in the Hamilton area

TORONTO, Dec. 6, 2012 /CNW/ - Maple Leaf Foods is proud to support the Glanbrook Home Support Programme with a $25,000 donation to the Programme's Meals Made Easy frozen meal delivery program. To celebrate the donation, Maple Leaf Foods' employees joined volunteers and staff from the Glanbrook Home Support Programme to deliver meals to homes throughout the local community.
"Glanbrook Home Support Programme is very grateful for Maple Leaf's support for our Meals Made Easy Program," said Janice Gumbley, Executive Director, Glanbrook Home Support Programme. "This generous donation will be used to help us provide nutritious meals to seniors and adults with disabilities on the Hamilton Mountain, Binbrook and Mt. Hope areas. This past fiscal year we provided more than 17,200 meals to over 300 people, and we look forward to delivering even more with the support from companies like Maple Leaf Foods."

Glanbrook Home Support Programme is a nonprofit charitable agency that provides supportive services and programs to seniors and adults with disabilities to assist them to live safely and independently in their own homes in Glanbrook and Hamilton. The Programme provides "Meals Made Easy", a frozen meal delivery service that serves more than 300 homes throughout Glanbrook and Hamilton. Meals are prepared from fresh foods and frozen the week prior to delivery. They are delivered directly to clients' homes. There are more than 35 different entrées and desserts to choose from, plus seven varieties of soup that are offered each week.
