Marc Tremblay will not seek a new term with the Société du Palais des congrès de Montréal and commends the performance of the teams Français
MONTREAL, July 30, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - Mr. Claude Liboiron, President of the Board of Directors of the Société du Palais des congrès de Montréal, recently announced the departure of Mr. Marc Tremblay, President and CEO of the Palais des congrès de Montreal. Mr. Tremblay, who is actively involved in the industry and wants to take on new challenges, informed the board of his intention not to seek a new term.
"It is with regret that the board accepted Mr. Tremblay's decision. After taking office in September 2009 for a term of four years, Mr. Tremblay was able to generate impressive results despite the difficult economic environment and intense competition, thanks to his leadership and management skills," said Mr. Liboiron. "He leaves the company in an excellent position to meet the challenges of the coming years," he added.
His primary mandate being to place sales performance in the forefront, Mr. Tremblay quickly decided to also work on two other important issues: Customer service and organizational performance. Among the major achievements that have helped to maintain the excellent reputation of Montréal and the Palais des congrès in the eyes of visitors are:
2010-2013 Strategic Plan
Planning was based on sales performance and renewal of the customer experience. Moreover, the plan's ambitious goal of doubling the number of events hosted in 2005-06 (183) became a reality in 2011-12, with the hosting of 368 events. The Palais has achieved the objectives set over the last three years and was able to book an impressive roster of future business for the coming years, thanks to the work of the Sales and Marketing teams. As well, the Palais earned two awards in London in October 2012 at the Meeting Industry Marketing Awards for its creativity and bold approach. It was a proud moment for the entire staff;
Technological modernization
The Palais has made a significant shift by adopting an ambitious technological development plan. Its cutting-edge infrastructure allows events to enjoy the best that technology has to offer. This approach has also allowed the organization to position itself among the top leaders in the industry;
Sustainable development
More firmly committed to sustainable development than ever, the Palais shined on the national and international scenes through initiatives such as the greening of its roofs, environmental responsibility programs and community involvement on many fronts. These projects have enabled the Palais to obtain unprecedented visibility in various media;
Reserve of land
By choosing to organize and request the reserve of strategic plots of land, the Palais was able to protect its future and ensure its ability to expand in the medium and long term;
"I am very proud of the progress the Palais has seen since 2009," said Mr. Tremblay. "For the second consecutive year, Montréal ranks first in the Americas for hosting international events. I feel privileged to have had the opportunity to work with our dedicated partners to make this city and this convention centre destinations of choice for major gatherings," he added. He concluded by stating that the Palais is in an enviable position, ready to take on the challenges of the coming years.
Mr. Marc Tremblay will step down on September 20, 2013.
