MONTREAL, July 3, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - Economist and entrepreneur Marcel Côté announced today that he will be leading a coalition as candidate for the office of Mayor of Montreal in the municipal election on November 3. Mr. Côté, who has a long record of involvement in the business, institutional and cultural life of Montreal and Quebec, was accompanied by supporters and leading figures from the worlds of politics, economics, the arts and the community as he made his public announcement.
"I am particularly proud to have assembled a coalition around a pragmatic agenda for our City, a city that Montrealers want to reclaim. The coalition brings together representatives of East and West, federalists and sovereignists, central and suburban boroughs, francophones and anglophones, young people and the not so young, and members of many communities with diverse origins, all of whom have decided to come together to make Montreal a winning city", said Mr. Côté.
Marcel Côté released a declaration endorsed by a group of independent and Vision Montreal councillors. It addresses subjects that cover ethics, sound management of public finances, transparency, improving services to the public and the neighbourhoods where people live, and relations with other levels of government such as the Government of Quebec and the Montreal Urban Community.
"Montreal has given me a lot over my life. Without Montreal, I would not be here today. I want to be able to give something back to Montreal by putting my broad experience as a manager, an economist and a volunteer to work," the mayoral candidate said. "Today, I am offering Montrealers my total commitment, and a team that is part of a coalition for a winning Montreal."
