MONTREAL, March 1, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - During National Engineering Month, the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec is launching a brand new quiz contest that lets young people discover engineering, resuming its advertising campaign in various media, and celebrating the issuance of nearly 2,000 new engineer's permits. National Engineering Month is a nation-wide event designed to introduce the engineering profession to young people and celebrate excellence in it.
"Raising awareness in young people - girls and boys - and the general public about the multiple facets of the engineering profession is an important issue for the next generation of engineers. By doing so, we hope to show them how engineers contribute to the socio-economic development of Québec and rouse interest in young people who are inspired by innovation and technology," stated the President of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec, Maud Cohen, Eng.
"There is an engineer behind that" quiz contest
To pique the curiosity of young people, the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec is offering them a brand new quiz contest entitled "There is an engineer behind that" on the Web site www.placeforyou.ca. This quiz contest teaches young people about the engineering disciplines that are involved in the design of everyday objects, such as running shoes or cameras. It provides them with a wonderful opportunity to discover the multiple facets of an exciting profession, which offers a variety of stimulating challenges and enriching experiences!
Engineering advertising campaign
The engineering advertising campaign that was launched in mid-November 2011 will resume on television, the Web and in various printed media during the entire month of March. Featuring the slogan "A profession. A commitment. A vision.", this campaign is designed to make the general public aware of the various facets of the engineering profession, an objective that is perfectly in line with the mission of National Engineering Month.
Soirée signature ingénieur(e) 2012
National Engineering Month is also the perfect time to welcome the nearly 2,000 new engineers who have earned their engineer's permit in the last twelve months. During the Signature ingénieur(e) 2012 events on March 1 at the Musée de la civilisation de Québec and on March 15 at the Montreal Science Centre, the OIQ will celebrate this major milestone in the careers of all engineers when they receive their engineer's permit.
