TORONTO, July 4, 2013 /CNW/ - Corus Entertainment Inc. (TSX: CJR.B) announces today that Mario Cecchini is joining the organization on September 2, 2013 to oversee Corus' radio and conventional television stations in Eastern Ontario. In addition, pending Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission approval of Corus' agreement announced March 4, 2013, Mario will also be responsible for the Québec specialty television assets and Ottawa radio stations to be acquired from Bell/Astral.
With this appointment, Mario will oversee: CHEX TV, 100.5 KRUZ-FM and THE WOLF 101.5 in Peterborough; Channel 12 Durham; CKWS TV, CKWS-FM and FM96 in Kingston; Variety 104.5 and 101.9 CJSS-FM in Cornwall; and subject to regulatory approval, two Ottawa radio stations, CKQB-FM and CJOT-FM and the Québec specialty television services TÉLÉTOON, TÉLÉTOON Rétro, Historia and Séries+.

Upon approval of Corus' acquisition of the Québec specialty services, Corus will establish an office in Montréal under Mario's leadership to ensure that the channels continue to serve the needs and preferences of their viewers.
Mario was, until today, Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing for Astral Radio, a division of Astral Media. Previously, he was Vice President of Corus Québec with responsibility for Corus' Québec radio holdings. Additional senior management positions that Mario has held include President and Chief Operating Officer of Zoom Media, and Executive Vice President at Telemedia Radio Ontario.
