Market Surveillance Panel Releases Electricity Market Monitoring Report

TORONTO , Jan. 29 /CNW/ - The Market Surveillance Panel (MSP) has submitted its Electricity Market Monitoring Report to the Ontario Energy Board (OEB) on Ontario's wholesale electricity market for the period between May 2009 and October 2009 . The Report, published today on the OEB website, states that the market has continued to perform reasonably well according to the parameters set for it.

As in previous reports, the Panel makes recommendations regarding several potential opportunities to improve the efficiency of the market.

The Market Surveillance Panel is appointed by the Ontario Energy Board. The mandate of the Panel is to monitor, report on, and where appropriate, investigate, the activities and conduct of participants in the markets administered by the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO).

The Panel's report also serves as a detailed source of information on the operation of the market during the review period.
