TORONTO, July 16, 2014 /CNW/ - An untimely shoulder injury sustained during the surfing challenge in tonight's episode of THE AMAZING RACE CANADA abruptly ended the competition for married couple Jen and Shawn King. The Halifax-based team were forced to withdraw from the competition due to injury, before host Jon Montgomery arrived at Tofino General Hospital to make it official.
The result of an old shoulder injury, Shawn's right shoulder dislocated as he swam into the waves to attempt surfing, and required medical attention. Jen described the decision to withdraw as "one of the toughest decisions we've ever had to make." "We didn't lose," said Shawn, "we just can't keep going."

Episode 2 Recap
From the Pit Start in Victoria, 10 teams made their way to "surfer's paradise" in Tofino, B.C. At the Detour, teams chose to either sort or fillet fish at Ucluelet Harbour Seafoods, then made their way to Chesterman Beach to complete a surfing challenge and build a chair out of driftwood, before heading to the Pit Stop located at the picturesque Tofino Crab Dock. As a result of Shawn's injury, engaged couple Rex and Bob narrowly escaped elimination after racking up six hours of penalties by failing to complete both the surfing and chair building challenges. "We are shocked that we've survived," said Rex. "We didn't want it to be at the expense of someone else. No more giving up and taking penalties, we're going to fight on, we have to do it for them."
Canada's National Women's Hockey Team members Natalie Spooner and Meaghan Mikkelson kept their winning streak alive after taking the first leg of Season 2. The teammates also won two round trip tickets from Air Canada to Hong Kong, plus another $2,000 on their Scotiabank Gold American Express Card.
