MARS CANADA ISSUES ALLERGY ALERT FOR UNCLE BEN'S(R) COUNTRY STYLE & HARVEST

BOLTON, ON, Oct. 20 /CNW/ - Mars Canada Inc. is advising consumers with an allergy to milk proteins not to consume:

• Uncle Ben's® Stuff'N Such® Country Style bearing UPC 0 58496 13101 2
• Uncle Ben's® Stuff'N Such® Harvest Chicken bearing UPC 0 58496 13401 3

Mars has identified trace amounts of milk protein that may be present in these products, which are not declared on the label.  There is no concern to consumers who are not sensitive to dairy. Mars Canada is working with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency and with affected retailers to address this issue swiftly.  As a precautionary measure, Mars Canada is withdrawing these products.  No other Uncle Ben's® products are affected by this allergy alert.

Mars Canada asks that consumers who have purchased these products marked with the above UPC indicators return the product to the store where it was purchased for a full refund.  Should consumers have any questions or concerns, please call our toll-free hotline at 1-800-734-3226.
