MONTREAL, Dec. 14, 2016 /CNW Telbec/ - The Cancer Research Society announced Monday that Mr. Martin Thibodeau has been elected Chairman of the Board, effective immediately. Mr. Thibodeau is President, Quebec Headquarters, RBC Royal Bank.
Mr. Thibodeau is no stranger to the Cancer Research Society. He has been a very active member of the Board of Directors since June 2013 and was involved in its various committees, including the Executive, Development, and Governance committees. Martin is considered a tireless supporter of the organization, and since joining the Society's Board, he was the driving force behind the successful Urban BBQTM, an innovative annual fundraising concept for which he has been the Honorary Chairman since its inaugural event in 2014. Martin has also taken a very active part in the Society's strategic plan and is committed to its successful realization.
Martin has a bachelor's degree in business management from Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières and an MBA from the UQAM School of Management. A RBC Royal Bank employee since 1989, Martin has worked primarily in Commercial Financial Services, at different levels and in various regions of Canada.
Martin succeeds Domenic Pilla who had been heading the Board since 2011. During Domenic's tenure as Chairman, the Society witnessed a marked increase in its research commitments, and he leaves the organization with great satisfaction for the work accomplished.
