TORONTO, March 31, 2014 /CNW/ - MasterCard today announced a partnership with fashiontruck canada, a first-of-its-kind cashless fashion mobile retail experience in Canada to bring free spirited style to fashion lovers in Toronto and across the country. fashiontruck canada has embraced technology that enables a safe, simple and smart payment experience for shopping, travel and running a business. To suit the mobile lifestyle there will be no cash aboard the truck, just electronic payments.
"fashiontruck canada is a fascinating evolution of the pop-up shop and food truck trend that has exploded in popularity over the past couple years," says Nicolas Dinh, Vice President, Mobile Payments, MasterCard Canada. "MasterCard wanted to partner with this small business because we celebrate innovation. We're thrilled to support entrepreneurs bringing the future of retail to consumers through an innovative vision and exciting business concept."
fashiontruck canada is a new retail concept from Emily Dobbie, owner of Vocado fashion boutiques, and stylist Ashley Barber, both based in Toronto. The young entrepreneurs saw a need to bring fast fashion to Canadians at festivals, concerts and events in Toronto now and across Canada this summer. Canadians will find a curated mix of women's clothing and accessories under $100 aboard fashiontruck canada. Fashion lovers can expect to see city-chic-meets- weekend-warrior fashion, with items tailored to each location.
"We're bringing fashion and retail directly to shoppers, and that means we can take street style to the next level," says Ashley Barber, Co-owner, fashiontruck canada. "We partnered with MasterCard to power fashiontruck canada because electronic payments are what customers want," says Emily Dobbie, Co-owner, fashiontruck canada. "Going cashless makes sense for us as business owners. Convenience, safety and flexibility are what we need to run our business."
Customers shopping at fashiontruck canada will experience the seamless cashless payments they have come to expect using their MasterCard card in-store and online. And paying aboard the truck will be faster than ever with the addition of Moneris' PAYD PRO, Canada's first smartphone point-of-sale solution to accept credit and debit via a Bluetooth-enabled PIN pad.
MasterCard cardholders will also receive a 20 per cent discount when they make a purchase with their MasterCard at fashiontruck canada.
