TORONTO, June 27, 2013 /CNW/ - Winning Wednesday with 1.7 million viewers, CTV's MASTERCHEF sliced and diced its way last night past the season premiere of BIG BROTHER (Global/1.3 million viewers, down 25%)*. MASTERCHEF was also #1 in all key demos both nationally and in Toronto, Calgary, and Vancouver. As the action intensified, last night's episode gained momentum, peaking at 2.2 million viewers in its final half hour. With an average summer audience of 1.8 million viewers, MASTERCHEF remains one of the hottest formats on television, up 6% versus last summer, and ranking as the #1 series of the summer among all key adult demos.
Also last night, CTV's THE LISTENER grew from a week ago to season-high overnight audiences in all key demos, attracting 929,000 total viewers.

In the next all-new episode of MASTERCHEF (Wednesday, July 10 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CTV), actress and restaurateur Eva Longoria (DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES) surprises the contestants and selects Mexican-inspired ingredients for the mystery box challenge. The contestant who creates the most impressive restaurant-quality dish will determine which food basket each of the remaining contestants will receive in the elimination round. Later, in the team challenge, the home cooks hit the beach and cook fish tacos for more than 100 hungry surfers.
In the next all-new episode of THE LISTENER, titled "Witness for the Prosecution" (Wednesday, July 10 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on CTV), the key witness in a mob murder trial is shot, and Toby (Craig Olejnik) and Michelle (Lauren Lee Smith) must contend with a suspicious FBI agent as they unravel a potential conspiracy linked to the original killing and retaliation.
