Material Fact - PetroRio informs ANP approval on assignment of concession contracts for Rosneft
RIO DE JANEIRO, July 6, 2015 /CNW/ - Petro Rio S.A. ("PetroRio" or the "Company") (BM&FBOVESPA: PRIO3, TSX-V: HRP) obtained the confirmation from the Brazilian National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (Agência Nacional do Petróleo, Gás Natural e Biocombustíveis - ANP), through Official Letters 560/2015/SEP and 561/2015/SEP, for the approval granted on July 1st, 2015 on the Assignment of Rights in the Concession Contracts of Oil and Gas located in the Solimões Sedimentary Basin to Rosneft Brazil E&P Ltda. ("Rosneft"), a subsidiary of Rosneft Oil Company.
Since the signing of the definitive agreements for the sale and assignment of the entire stake held by PetroRio in Solimões, the parties have been working on the transition of operations, ensuring that the final transfer occurs within the Company's safety standards and operational quality.
The divestiture of all Solimões operations minimizes PetroRio's exposure to exploration risks and is entirely in accordance with the Company's strategy of focusing on proved developed reserves, which is one of the most important emerging companies of the Brazilian oil industry.
PetroRio is focusing in the development of a solid growth platform aiming at generating value for its shareholders, by increasing its production through the acquisition of production assets, the efficient understanding of the reservoir, recompletions and redevelopment, improving operational efficiency, and reducing production costs and expenses.
The Company's GDSs will continue to be traded under the ticker symbol HRP in the TSX-V until the change to the new ticker symbol, PRJ, is concluded.
