MATERNA ips Showcases a new Generation of Automated Baggage Handling Systems at the 2012 Passenger Terminal Expo and Demonstrates its Innovative Solutions for Improving Services to Passengers
DORTMUND, GERMANY, April 17, 2012 /CNW/ - For the second year running, MATERNA is presenting its Integrated Passenger Services (ips) at the Passenger Terminal Expo (18 - 20 April 2012 in Vienna, Stand 6100). As well as its established solutions for check-in, security and boarding, the key focus for MATERNA ips at this year's event will be the live demonstration of its new baggage drop-off technology. Together with its partners Sick and Vanderlande, the company will demonstrate how bag drop procedures can be optimised for operators and passengers alike. MATERNA ips, which has been operating successfully in the bag drop segment since 2003, is focusing on cutting-edge technologies for its new baggage handling system, such as the integration of mobile components for cashless payment.
MATERNA's CUSS platform-based baggage drop-off solution gives passengers the option of self-service bag drop regardless of counter opening hours. The bag tags can be printed out beforehand at home or at the airport. The system supports bag drops for passengers travelling in groups. If excess baggage payments are necessary, the excess baggage fee can also be calculated and paid using the MATERNA solution, offering passengers more flexibility and convenience in their travel preparations. Airport operators can use the new bag drop system as a fully automated or attended solution and can continue to utilize existing infrastructure such as conveyor belt systems.
In line with its stated goal of "Simplifying the passenger's journey", MATERNA is pursuing an integrative approach: By incorporating existing systems, solutions for check-in (via kiosk, online or by mobile phone), automated baggage handling, reliable secure access and self boarding can be successfully implemented from a single source.
