Mattamy Homes opens its doors at Eastmark
The first of many major marks that Canada's biggest builder plans to make in Arizona
SCOTTSDALE, AZ, June 26, 2013 /CNW/ - Mattamy Homes, a leading North American land development and homebuilding firm, has opened the doors at its newest community in Arizona: Eastmark in Mesa, a new 3,200-acre DMB Associates community that promises to be one of the most thoughtfully planned, innovative in the country.
The grand opening of Eastmark took place on the first weekend in June, with thousands of people checking out the hotly anticipated development. Mattamy, which is a relative newcomer to the local homebuilding scene, has experienced great success at Eastmark in the early going: sales on opening weekend and in the weeks since have led all builders in the community and represent a solid start to the company's biggest project so far in the Phoenix area.
"The Eastmark opening was a great success for Mattamy," says Steve Sasso, President of Mattamy's Arizona Division. "We've outsold in the community, which we feel is impressive since homebuyers are still getting to know us. Our product has truly distinctive architectural designs that have gone over very well with our guests. We may be unknown, but we've been successful and are really just getting started."
Mattamy is bringing exclusive, unique and brand-new architectural designs to Eastmark - all based on extensive customer research about what local homeowners want and need in their home. In its first phase, Mattamy has 163 homes for sale:
- Homes in Sable Garden range from 1,511 to 2,734 square feet. Homes in Lincoln Square range from 2,105 to 3,185 square feet.
- A variety of single-level and two-story floorplans and elevations are available.
- Mattamy has targeted its new homes at Eastmark with a starting price in the low $200s, to households looking for their first new single-family home or those seeking to move up to a larger home.
Eastmark promises to be a truly distinctive community in the Mesa area. At completion, there will be a public 106-acre park at the center for biking and strolling, and a visitor and community center that will be a hub for activities. Eastmark is close to three freeways and the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport. Residents will have access to one of the best school districts in Arizona: Queen Creek Unified School District. In addition, Eastmark will be home to the world-class charter school, BASIS Mesa at Eastmark, opening in August 2013.
"Mattamy's approach at Eastmark has been to offer prices that are in keeping with the market, recognizing that while underlying economic conditions are getting better in the Phoenix Metro area, consumers are still cautious and are considering their new home purchases carefully," says Sasso.
A declining unemployment rate in the Phoenix area is fueling demand for housing, which, coupled with a declining supply of homes for sale, is beginning to describe an improving and attractive market. "We see the demographic projections making this one of the strongest markets in the US, in regards to employment and population growth," says Laura Di Paolo, Mattamy's Vice President, Corporate Marketing & Strategic Market Planning. "Our Eastmark investment, which currently consists of 163 homes and will likely be expanded within the next year through additional investment, as well as several other major projects we're undertaking, will provide Mattamy with the inventory that's needed to handle the demand we feel is going to occur as the market continues to improve."
Mattamy is embarking on a significant and exciting growth plan in Arizona. The company has made more than $40 million in land purchases over the past year and will be bringing new communities (representing nearly 1,000 additional homes) on line in Goodyear, Mesa, Peoria, Phoenix and Surprise within the next year.
