- New flagship sedan will be available with a host of new Mazda i-ACTIVSENSE safety technology -
RICHMOND HILL, ON, Jan. 3, 2013 /CNW/ - When the all-new 2014 Mazda6 arrives at dealerships in a few weeks, it will have a starting MSRP of $24,495. Completely redesigned and featuring the entire suite of SKYACTIV Technology including a new 2.5L SKYACTIV-G engine, the Mazda6 will have more standard equipment than the outgoing sedan, and will be available with new safety technologies never before seen on a Mazda vehicle. Striking exterior design and a refined interior are also part of the standard feature set, as are the unmistakable handling characteristics imbued into every Mazda vehicle.
The 2014 Mazda6 will be available in three trim levels: GX, GS, and GT. All Mazda6 models will feature an impressive list of standard equipment, such as keyless entry and push-button start, rain-sensing wipers, Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity, 5.8" colour touch screen audio display, 17" alloy wheels, LED taillights, and heated exterior mirrors with side turn signal. Six exterior colours are available to choose from: Snowflake White Pearl, Aluminum Metallic Mica, Jet Black Mica, Meteor Grey Mica, Blue Reflex Mica, and Mazda's new signature colour, Soul Red Mica. Standard interior seating material will be black cloth, with black and off-white leather interior trims optional.
All models will be powered by a new 2.5L SKYACTIV-G four-cylinder engine which produces 184 horsepower and 185 lb-ft of torque, with a redline at 6,500 RPM. Each trim level also features a 6-speed SKYACTIV-MT manual transmission as standard equipment, for the drivers that prefer to shift through the gears. A 6-speed SKYACTIV-Drive automatic transmission is also available as an option.
Fuel economy for the 2014 Mazda6 is among the best in its class, at 5.1 litres per 100 kilometers (L/100km) on the highway, and 7.6 L/100km in the city when paired with the optional 6-speed SKYACTIV-Drive automatic transmission. Fuel economy for the standard 6-speed manual transmission is 5.3 / 8.1 L/100km (hwy/city).
The Mazda6 GX, which has a starting MSRP of $24,495, will feature the standard equipment listed above along with an extensive list of safety features such as anti-lock braking system (ABS), traction control, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), 4-wheel ventilated disc brakes, dual front and side airbags, dual side curtain airbags, integrated child seat anchors, child-safety rear door locks, and ISOFIX child safety-seat anchors in rear seat (upper and lower type). The only option available for the Mazda6 GX is the SKYACTIV-Drive 6-speed automatic transmission.
Moving up to the Mazda6 GS brings a raft of additional standard equipment, such as dual-zone automatic climate control, rear HVAC, rearview camera, Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Human-Machine Interface (HMI) commander for multimedia, moonroof, fog lamps, and more. MSRP for the Mazda6 GS is $28,395 and includes the choice of manual or automatic transmission with paddleshift at no extra cost.
A Luxury Package is available for the Mazda6 GS that adds leather-trimmed upholstery, 8-way power driver's seat, power driver lumbar support, leather-like door trim, and a navigation system.
Moving up to the top-trimmed Mazda6 GT nets you all the equipment from the GX and GS with Luxury Package, and adds even more luxury and refinement. 17-inch wheels are traded in for 19-inch bright finish alloy wheels with low-profile 225/45R19 tires, and the face of the car is defined with HID xenon with LED signature headlamps. Auto-dimming exterior and interior rearview mirrors, memory driver's seat, and 4-way power front passenger's seat finish off the package. MSRP for the Mazda6 GT is $32,195 and also includes the choice of manual or automatic transmission with paddleshift at no extra cost.
