-- 7-passenger CX-9 experiences best October ever --
TORONTO, Nov. 1, 2012 /CNW/ - Mazda Canada announced sales for October 2012 today, totalling 5,078, which represents a decrease of 6% compared to October 2011. Total sales year-to-date are 62,857, which is up 6% over the previous year.
The biggest sales increases in October belong to the Mazda6 and CX-9, which increased 78% and 33%, respectively. The Mazda3 continues to be the highest volume seller in the Mazda line-up, selling 2,508 vehicles in October and is up 10% year-to-date.
SKYACTIV Technology maintains its prominence in Mazda sales, with 56% of all Mazda vehicles sold in October. The Mazda3 with SKYACTIV Technology also dominated the sales figures, representing almost three-quarters of all Mazda3s sold in Canada in October.
The Mazda3 SKYACTIV sedan was recently named as the 'Best New Small Car under $21,000' by more than 80 members of the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC), beating out five tough competitors to take top honours in its category at the annual TestFest in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario.
"It is exciting for the Mazda3 SKYACTIV to be recognized as the 'Best New Small Car under $21K' in Canada by so many members of the automotive press; something that our customers across the country have already been finding out for themselves all year," said David Klan, Senior Director, Sales, Marketing and Regional Operations at Mazda Canada Inc. "SKYACTIV Technology really is a revolutionary new way of looking at fun and efficient transportation, and it shows in our sales and awards."
Other positive news for October includes the CX line of crossovers, which are still enjoying strong sales increases thanks to continued strong sales by the 2013 Mazda CX-5, which sold 956 units in October. Sales of the CX line of crossovers are up 121% year-to-date over 2011.
