Mazda Canada reports sales for May 2017

RICHMOND HILL, ON, June 1, 2017 /CNW/ - Mazda Canada Inc. (MCI) today reported May sales of 7,250 vehicles, which represents an increase of 7.9 percent versus May 2016. Year to date sales are 29,510, which is an increase of 7.1 percent compared to the same period in 2016.

Key May 2017 sales notes:

• As the last of the 2016.5 CX-5s roll off dealer lots, the all-new 2017 CX-5 steps in with a combination of refined style, premium craftsmanship, and Mazda's award-winning SKYACTIV Technology. Total CX-5 sales of 2,353 units set a new record for May sales, besting the previous record from 2016 by 7.5 percent.
• CX-9 continues its strong sales growth in the month of May, tying its previous record month (June 2016) with an increase of 26.3 percent versus the same month in 2016. This is now the fourteenth consecutive month of YOY growth for the CX-9 following the launch of the second-generation model in spring 2016.
• CX-3 follows the trend of robust crossover sales in May with its best-ever sales month, up 28.4 percent versus May 2016.
• Mazda6 enjoyed a healthy 35.1 percent increase in sales compared to May 2016.
• Mazda5 sales rose 14.5 percent versus the same month last year.
• Total sales of Mazda's CX crossover SUV line, including the CX-3, CX-5 and CX-9, were up 14.6 percent YOY with 3,831 vehicles sold in the month of May. When making purchase decisions regarding crossover SUVs, a majority of Mazda customers continue to choose the AWD option, with 77.4 percent of CX-line vehicles sold in May being equipped with predictive i-ACTIV All-Wheel Drive.
