MCAP and Habitat for Humanity Canada provide all Canadians with Key to Hope
MCAP and Habitat for Humanity Canada launch innovative giving tool
TORONTO, March 17 /CNW/ - Today, MCAP, a leading Canadian mortgage company, and Habitat for Humanity Canada officially launched their Key to Hope program, an optional add-on to any MCAP mortgage allowing consumers to make on-going charitable donations to Habitat for Humanity Canada in an easy and convenient manner. The first of its kind, this program allows borrowers to simply add a specified donation amount to each mortgage payment which MCAP will then match and donate to Habitat for Humanity Canada on behalf of its customer. The goal of Key to Hope is to raise at least an additional $1 million for Habitat over the next five years.
"As an organization that firmly believes in the work of Habitat for Humanity Canada, MCAP is always looking for new ways to engage its employees and customers in the cause," said John Thompson, Senior Vice President at MCAP. "By allowing our customers to donate to Habitat through their mortgage payments, we are providing them with a simple and effective way to support the organization."
MCAP is encouraging mortgage brokers to offer customers the Key to Hope program by introducing a partnership plan whereby brokers can also make donations, which are payable out of their MCAP commissions. MCAP will then match all broker and consumer contributions.
"With 1.3 million Canadian families unable to pay for rent and life's other necessities, Habitat for Humanity is always looking for new ways to engage Canadians in the fight for decent, affordable housing," said Stewart Hardacre, President and COO of Habitat for Humanity Canada. "By allowing Canadians to add on any donation amount to their mortgage payments, Key to Hope allows homeowners to share the joy of homeownership with fellow Canadians in need."
MCAP has been a partner of Habitat for Humanity Canada since 2000. In that time, the organization has generated more than $1.6 million in charitable donations. Key to Hope will increase MCAP's support of Habitat helping even more families experience the benefits of owning a decent and affordable home, including improved health, longer life expectancy and a stronger connection to the community.
