McClelland & Stewart to mark publication of Into the Fire: The Fight to Save Fort McMurray with $20,000 donation
TORONTO, April 27, 2017 /CNW/ - McClelland & Stewart and Jerron Hawley, Graham Hurley, and Steve Sackett will donate $20,000 to the Fort McMurray Firefighters' Association to mark the publication of their book Into the Fire: The Fight to Save Fort McMurray. The co-authors are members of the city's fire department and the donation will be directed to the work of the Association's Relief Fund.
Jared Bland, Publisher, McClelland & Stewart, said: "We are proud to publish this remarkable book. It is a rare first-hand account of what it was like to fight a major wildfire and a stunning record of the devastating effects of the fire. As the first anniversary of this unprecedented event approaches, we are again reminded of the incredible level of commitment, bravery, and tenacity shown by the fire crews who served their community and who came together to save their city. We honour them."
Jerron Hawley, on behalf of his co-authors, said: "In writing this book, Graham and Steve and I wanted to reflect on an experience that was life-changing for us and for the citizens of Fort McMurray. One year later, we are proud to be part of the community that continues to grow and re-build together. In telling our story, we felt it was important for us to give back to our brothers and sisters in the department."
Into the Fire: The Fight to Save Fort McMurray is now available wherever books are sold. Copies have also been donated to the Wood Buffalo Regional Library in Fort McMurray.
