West Hiring Day aims to hire hundreds across the province
KELOWNA, BC, July 8, 2019 /CNW/ - On Wednesday, July 10th, McDonald's Canada will aim to hire more than 400 new employees across British Columbia. The ambitious target is part of the restaurant's annual West Hiring Day initiative, a one-day hiring blitz where candidates are encouraged to visit their local restaurant to learn about the opportunities and benefits of working at McDonald's.
Job seekers will have the opportunity to apply in-restaurant, with the benefit of a possible on-the-spot interview by a member of the restaurant management team. Across the province, participating restaurants will seek to hire crew, managers, as well as Guest Experience Leader positions.
New to West Hiring Day this year, McDonald's Canada is running its 'Friends Wanted' campaign, which targets prospective candidates and encourages them to apply with a friend. When individuals apply on July 10th, they can mention each other's names to have their applications linked. Friends have the opportunity to be hired and trained together, boosting McDonald's reputation as a fun, accessible place to work.
"Together with fellow franchisees, we are excited to be creating new employment opportunities in unique ways, like Friends Wanted, across British Columbia," said Tim Pink, McDonald's Kelowna franchisee. "Whether July 10th brings in two high school friends looking for part time jobs, or a seasoned professional looking for a management position, West Hiring Day is an important day for our organization."
"West Hiring Day is an extension of the value we place on providing meaningful career development and training opportunities," said Steve Rutherford, Human Resources Business Partner, McDonald's Canada. "The Friends Wanted campaign that is part of this year's West Hiring Day promotes one of the best benefits of working at McDonald's – working with your friends."
West Hiring Day will take place at participating restaurants in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, the Yukon Territory and the Northwest Territories.
Candidates looking for local restaurant career opportunities who are unable to apply in-person can go to www.McDonalds.ca/Careers to apply online.
