It's all Gravy as McDonald's Canada Launches Poutine across the Country
TORONTO, Dec. 4, 2013 /CNW/ - Today, Canadians have a whole new way to enjoy McDonald's World Famous Fries™ with the launch of Poutine. Already a popular McDonald's menu item in Quebec, Poutine will now be available at participating McDonald's® restaurants across Canada.
"We're thrilled to offer a McDonald's favourite in Quebec to our customers across Canada," said Anne Parks, Director of Menu Management, McDonald's Canada. "We often adapt recipes from other countries, but in this case Poutine is homegrown fare."
Created more than 50 years ago, Poutine has grown in popularity and now represents a $79 million category* in Canada. McDonald's Canada first introduced Poutine in Quebec more than a decade ago and it's something that customers in various regions across the country have been asking for.
McDonald's has listened, and is pleased to offer this popular Quebec product to more and more Canadians.
"More than two thirds of Canadians who enjoy Poutine live outside Quebec,*" said Parks. "It's the right time to introduce Poutine to our customers from coast to coast."
Priced from $3.99 plus tax, McDonald's Poutine is made with the company's World Famous Fries topped with real Quebec cheese curds and gravy. It can be enjoyed on its own or for an extra charge, customers can replace their fries with Poutine in any Extra Value Meal.
