McGill University students raise funds for Fondation Sourdine
QUEBEC CITY, Feb. 18 /CNW Telbec/ - On January 28, the Science Undergraduate Society of McGill University delivered the proceeds from their prolific fundraising to Fondation Sourdine representatives Mario W. Martel, president and chief executive officer of Roche Ltd, Consulting Group and treasurer of Fondation Sourdine, and Sandra Ferguson, general director of Fondation Sourdine. As a result of the many charitable initiatives and group efforts by the various science faculties, the Science Undergraduate Society exceeded their objectives in the past four years. At their annual Charity Fair this year they raised $25,000 net, which will go to support the social and academic success of young deaf children who attend the Oral School of Quebec for Young Children.
"This money will make a substantial contribution to the foundation's various objectives. The school's focus is to integrate deaf children into society and help them achieve their greatest aspirations, playing an active role in society rather than being dependant on it," said Ms. Ferguson. Mr. Martel added that "the organizers of this event warrant every honour and all our admiration. They infused everyone involved in the fundraising with their contagious energy and made it a resounding success." The generosity of the Foundation's loyal partners such as Lobe Santé auditive et communications and the Hotel Germain of Montreal also contributed to the success of the campaign.
