McGill University Will Continue Playing in the RSEQ Football League
MONTREAL, Oct. 18, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - Following the decision made by Ontario University Athletics (OUA) not to support McGill University's request to join its university league, the McGill Redmen football team will continue to play in the RSEQ (Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec).
This decision is timely, given that the RSEQ has already begun developing an action plan and a long-term vision for its university football league. Discussions between the RSEQ and league members were begun in order to find ways of making improvements. McGill University has taken an active role in the discussions for several months, which has contributed to improving the process.
"We are very pleased with this decision, as it will facilitate discussions and processes in order to find medium- and long-term solutions," says Alain Roy, RSEQ Director-General. "All RSEQ members are on board with this decision and hope that each team will uphold the values and mission of this flagship league in the network."
Through this action plan, the RSEQ's goal is to promote the development and excellence of its student athletes, in conforming with its mission.
The RSEQ (Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec) is committed to the promotion and development of sport and physical activity in an educational setting from the grassroots level through to high performance sport. The RSEQ promotes education and academic success as well as the health and well-being of young people.
