MONTREAL, Aug. 1st 2017 /CNW Telbec/ - McKesson Canada announced today that it will make a $27,500 donation to the Canadian Red Cross to aid victims of the wildfires in British Columbia. In addition, the McKesson Foundation announced it will match employee donations through their Matching Gifts Program, up to a maximum of $2,500 per employee, to wildfire relief efforts.
"Our thoughts are with all the people of British Columbia as wildfires have forced the evacuation of thousands of residents", said Paula Keays, President of McKesson Canada. "We are working closely with our members and franchisees from British Columbia and surrounding areas to support evacuees and their health care needs. A large number of our independent pharmacists from The Medicine Shoppe, Guardian, I.D.A. and Remedy'sRx banners have stepped up to give out supplies and offer discounts to the relief of impacted communities across the region. We hope this brings a little comfort to the victims and their families."
"During these unsettling times, neighbourhood pharmacists across British Columbia are providing care to those that need it most," said Richard Brennan, Senior Vice President, Retail Banner Group. "I am proud of our pharmacist owners who continue to demonstrate their commitment to the communities that they serve."
Canadians can make a donation to the British Columbia Fire Appeal to support the Canadian Red Cross response efforts.
